Artist Statement

In my artistic journey, I embrace color as my foremost language of expression. I am captivated by the interplay of bold hues and their ability to evoke profound emotions. My art becomes a dance of colors, a symphony of shapes, where each stroke breathes life into a canvas that sings with joy and vitality.

Inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the grace of human form, my work aspires to explore the essence of simplicity and harmony, drawing inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi. This philosophy embraces the beauty of imperfection, which I translate into my art by abstracting the flowers I paint. Through these non-anatomically correct flowers, I symbolize that we, too, are imperfect beings, each with our own unique flaws and insecurities. I use bold colors to encourage viewers to look beyond the abstract and embrace imperfection as part of the human experience.

In the Wabi Sabi series, I incorporate the universal symbol of water, representing life in many cultures. I use water to tell a story of life's constant fluid motion, despite being on a flat plane, reflecting the ups and downs we all experience. Just as the water helps the flower grow and bloom, I believe we need to embrace our life experiences, both the good and the bad, allowing them to shape us into the people we aspire to be.

My artistic process is one of intuitive exploration, where I relinquish control and allow the colors to guide my hand. With every piece, I aim to transport the viewer to a realm of exuberance and playfulness, inviting them to immerse themselves in a world of unabashed beauty and emotion. Henri Matisse once said, "Creativity takes courage," and I, too, embrace this sentiment wholeheartedly. My art is a testament to the courage of embracing imperfections and finding beauty in simplicity, ultimately offering a glimpse into the boundless depths of the human spirit.
